Cheese Care & How We Cut Our Cheese
How We Cut Our Cheese
We cut our website cheese orders from whole wheels of cheese which can range in size from as small as 1.6kg right up to 35kg for an entire wheel of Comté. We then cut these cheeses down into half, quarter, eighth, sixteenth and so on until we get to the smallest piece we can take off the wheel.
How Much Cheese to Buy?
We recommend roughly 100g of cheese per person when creating a cheeseboard. You would choose a smaller amount of cheese per person if it is just a small nibble at the end of a meal or more cheese per person if it is a main meal. We also recommend that less is more so buying a small number of different cheeses but in larger quantities for your board.
Product Shelf Life
With the majority of our cheeses we cut and wrap them fresh to send out, hard cheeses last 7 to 10 days, softs last 5 to 7 days from date of dispatch. The cheeses must be refrigerated on receipt. Please bear this in mind when choosing your date of delivery, you can choose up to 3 months in advance. We advise you arrange delivery for as close to your planned date of consumption as possible.
We do stock a small number of individually pre-wrapped cheeses which come in with longer best before dates and make a great option to go into hampers that will not be gifted for a while - please email for advise on which cheeses work best in this instance.
