A vivid orange coloured, perry-washed-rind soft cheese, made in Gloucestershire. Contrary to what some may expect, the name derives from the variety of pear used to make the Perry, rather than the pungency of this rich, oozy, mellow cheese. Ironically, the Stinking Bishop Pear gets its name from a local Bishop, who was named so because of his raucous behaviour.
A monastic style of cheese, that owes its origin to the Cistercian order of monks who once farmed the pastures of Hunts Court Farm. As with many monastic cheeses, this cheese is matured in humid cave-like conditions, for around 4-8 weeks.
