Neal's Yard Creamery originally started in Covent Garden; retailing cheeses at Neals Yard Dairy. It is now independently run by Charlie Westhead.
The name derives from Dorstone Hill, which the creamery sits upon, above the River Wye in Herefordshire.
The cheese is made using milk from Andrew and Diane Goodwin’s herd of goats at Wychmoor Farm, Titley, Herefordshire.
Dorstone is a cylindrical soft goat's cheese, with a wrinkly (geotrichum) rind. It is zesty, bright and fresh with a little citrus sparkle. Light and fluffy – moussey in texture. Based on a classic French goat’s cheese recipe, it is aged for around three weeks to keep it fresh, and is lightly ashed to produce a dark grey rind.
